THANKS FOR VISITING BURRELL QUARTER HORSES!
Burrell Quarter Horses was started by a father, John, and son, John C. Burrell. John and Cathy Burrell have land and horses in both Liberty Center and Lamoni, Ia while John C. and Lacey Burrell have their facilities and horses in Lucas, Ia. We are a little spread out, but it does allow for some of our horses to just be horses while the others are up in training, breeding, foaling, etc. The horses change from farm to farm, but ordinarily the yearlings and broodmares stay in Lamoni out in big pastures while the weanlings and a few riders stay in Liberty Center. Most of the riding horses in training will be located in Lucas.
We have concentrated our efforts on raising and training reining, cutting, and working cow horse bloodlines. Normally we maintain between 25 to 30 head of horses between our three locations. On occasion, we will have some older riding horses for beginners, but most of our efforts go into starting young colts that will then go on to into training for their specific event.
In 2005 John C. had the opportunity to go to Texas and work at the Babcock Ranch. At the ranch, his duties consisted of taking care of and/or riding all of the stallions like Smart Chic Olena, Reminic, Bueno Fritzi Nic, and Elans Playboy. John eventually moved over to the Babcock Training Facility where he started some of the colts from these great stallions. Since John C. returned home from Texas, Burrell Quarter Horses has really been working to produce and start some top performance prospects.
Thanks for looking!
